I Am Lewisham

I Am Lewisham is the campaign bid to be London’s Borough of Culture 2021. The London Borough of Culture is part of London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan’s plans to support the arts in London. The competition sees London’s 32 boroughs bid for more than £1m of funding to stage a programme of cultural events and initiatives.

We created the brand for the Lewisham Borough of Culture bid, based on the I AM within LEWISHAM – this both highlights the individual creatives and the strength of the whole borough. We used abstract and bold graphic forms to develop a visual language that communicates the creativity of Lewisham. This concept is representative of unique individuals coming together as a community; We Are Lewisham. The wordmark harmoniously combines two fairly unusual, stylistically opposing typefaces, giving real originality and ownership.

The brand was applied across printed marketing materials, social media platforms and a website – iamlewisham.uk
